Unfazed by This Winter's Cold Wave... Dobong-gu Implements Comprehensive Winter Measures

Four Areas Including Cold Wave and Snow Removal with 15 Detailed Measures... Operation of 24-Hour Comprehensive Support Situation Room, etc.

Dobong-gu (District Mayor Oh Eon-seok) has prepared the "2024 Winter Comprehensive Measures" in anticipation of the cold wave this winter, which will be implemented until March 15, 2025.

The comprehensive measures are divided into four areas: cold wave, snow removal, safety, and public welfare, with 15 detailed plans. The district aims to minimize various winter disasters, accidents, and safety incidents through the implementation of these detailed measures by sector.

During the implementation period, the district will operate a 24-hour comprehensive support situation room to prepare for the cold wave and will activate a cold-related illness monitoring system in cooperation with emergency medical centers in the area.

As a cold wave measure in daily life, 48 cold wave shelters and 3 nighttime cold wave shelters will be operated at community service centers, senior citizen centers, welfare facilities, and other locations.

For residents using public transportation, convenience facilities such as 155 heated seats and 9 smart shelters at bus stops will be activated.

For energy-vulnerable groups, energy voucher support will be provided, and through the public-private cooperative project "Spending a Warm Winter," residents in welfare blind spots will be identified and supported.

To prepare for and respond to sudden heavy snowfall, a Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters composed of 13 teams has been established, and shift teams will be organized to begin emergency duty. Additionally, the number of private snow removal service routes will be increased from 19 to 23, and heating cables on steep slopes will be expanded to 48 locations.

Measures to prevent winter fires will also be promoted. To prevent forest fires caused by dry weather, a Forest Fire Prevention Headquarters will be organized and operated, and forest-adjacent area burning will be monitored through a forest fire prevention patrol team.

Winter fire safety inspections and facility checks will be conducted on apartment complexes, construction sites, various welfare facilities, large distribution centers, and traditional markets expected to have many visitors during the year-end and New Year holidays.

Efforts will also be made to promote food safety measures for the year-end and New Year period. Inspections will be conducted on kimchi-making season food manufacturers for expiration date forgery, appropriateness of raw materials used, and storage management, and safety inspections will be carried out on livestock product handling businesses according to item-specific inspection criteria such as false labeling, expiration dates, and storage methods.

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, "This winter is expected to experience significant temperature changes and many dry days due to the influence of a mobile high-pressure system. We will do our best to implement measures for cold wave and fire prevention, as well as forest fire countermeasures, to ensure the health and safety of our residents during the winter."
