Appeal Against Court Decision to Accept Injunction for Examinees
Second Trial 'Notice'
Yonsei University has filed an objection to the court's provisional injunction suspending the validity of the 2025 academic year Yonsei University early admission natural sciences essay exam.
According to the legal community on the 16th, Yonsei University submitted an objection and a request for expedited hearing to the Civil Division 21 of the Seoul Western District Court (Presiding Judge Jeon Boseong), which issued the provisional injunction decision the day before. The court will conduct a rehearing based on the newly submitted materials from both parties. The date for the hearing has not yet been decided. If the court recognizes the grounds for the objection as valid, it may suspend the execution of the provisional injunction.
Earlier, the court partially granted the provisional injunction request filed by examinees and parents last month, who asked to suspend the validity of the Yonsei University natural sciences essay exam amid fairness controversies, including prior leakage of exam questions.
The request was to suspend the exam's validity until the conclusion of the main lawsuit filed by examinees demanding to retake the essay exam. Accordingly, the remaining procedures, such as the announcement of successful candidates scheduled for December 13, will be temporarily halted.
The court stated, "There is a high possibility that the fairness of the essay exam has been seriously compromised, infringing upon the examinees' legitimate trust and expectation rights for a fair process."
