On the 16th, Democratic Party lawmakers poured out condemnation remarks regarding Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, receiving a suspended prison sentence in the first trial of the public official election law violation case, which could result in the loss of his parliamentary seat.

At the emergency joint meeting of Democratic Party lawmakers and regional committee heads held at the National Assembly Members' Office Building that day, Floor Leader Park Chan-dae said, "History will remember yesterday as the day when the rule of law was suffocated and judicial justice collapsed."

He continued, "To summarize yesterday's ruling in one sentence, it means punishing memories and punishing emotions," and asserted, "In the court of public opinion and the court of history, Lee Jae-myung is innocent."

Supreme Council Member Kim Min-seok emphasized at the meeting, as relayed by Chief Spokesperson Jo Seung-rae, "This fight has historical significance as a struggle against political prosecution that has continued since the late President Roh Moo-hyun, and furthermore, it should not be overlooked that it is situated within the larger flow of 'regime change,' whether through impeachment, constitutional amendment, or resignation."

However, Kim also reportedly urged attendees, "We must not act rashly or hastily," and "Please trust the leadership's tactical judgment."

The 195 attendees stated in their condemnation statement, "The ugly intention of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration is to annihilate Leader Lee and the democratic-progressive forces," and called for "the dismantling of political prosecution."

They claimed that the prosecution's failure to actively investigate President Yoon Seok-yeol's and Myung Tae-gyun's phone conversations and Kim Kun-hee's receipt of luxury handbags is an example of 'no prosecution without power, no punishment without power,' and declared, "We will fight to the end together with Leader Lee."
