President Yoon Suk-yeol stated on the 15th (local time) at the Korea-US-Japan summit held on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, "The soon-to-be-launched Korea-US-Japan trilateral cooperation secretariat will serve as a solid foundation to lead greater cooperation among the three countries."
President Yoon, who is visiting Lima, Peru to attend the APEC summit, said at the Korea-US-Japan summit held at the Lima Convention Center that afternoon, "Today's meeting clearly demonstrates the three countries' firm commitment to the continuous development of Korea-US-Japan cooperation."
President Yoon emphasized, "In the midst of a global complex crisis, Korea-US-Japan cooperation not only aligns with the national interests of all three countries but is also essential for peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region," adding, "As seen in North Korea's deployment of troops to Russia, the severe security environment both within and outside the region once again highlights the importance of Korea-US-Japan trilateral cooperation."
He continued, "Since the Camp David summit led by President Joe Biden last year, Korea-US-Japan cooperation has been steadily strengthening," and evaluated, "The experience of trilateral cooperation is rapidly accumulating and leading to tangible results."
Biden: "Facing a Very Important Political Change"
U.S. President Joe Biden diagnosed, "We are responding to North Korea's dangerous and unsettling cooperation with Russia," and said, "Currently, we are facing a very important political change."
President Biden said, "It seems that this important trilateral summit will be the last one I attend," and added, "It is a great achievement to have built a partnership that can endure going forward." He also emphasized, "I sincerely believe that international cooperation will play a pivotal role in maintaining peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region for years to come."

Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru said, "Our three countries are facing a very challenging security environment, but security cooperation among the three countries, including the U.S.-Japan security alliance and the Korea-US alliance, continues to play an essential role in securing peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region."
Prime Minister Ishiba diagnosed, "Our partnership has continued to grow closer in order to respond to international challenges and competition," adding, "This is largely due to the expansion of trilateral cooperation in various fields."
He continued, "Since the Camp David summit, trilateral security cooperation has been elevated to a new level, which has recently been further realized through joint exercises called Freedom Edge," and added, "We plan to announce the institutionalization of trilateral coordination through the secretariat system, and through this, we hope to continue strengthening the partnership and jointly address North Korea and other various challenges."
