Hanam-si Implements Nighttime Water Shutoff in Parts of Deokpung-dong

Gyeonggi Hanam City (Mayor Lee Hyun-jae) announced on the 15th that it will conduct nighttime water outages (from 11 PM to 4 AM the next day) targeting some areas of Deokpung 2-dong (10 blocks) on the 21st and the Deokpung Market area (2-2 blocks) on December 9th to establish a water supply network block system.

This outage is a temporary water cut that occurs during the process of opening and closing valves attached to the water pipes to confirm the areas and range supplied by the water pipes in the process of establishing the water supply network block system.

The water supply network block system is a water operation system that divides the water supply network into blocks based on areas with similar elevation, supplies water by block units, and manages water quality, pressure, and quantity in real time.

Once the block system is completed, it will be possible to monitor and analyze the water supply volume, consumption, and leakage for each block by checking flow and pressure, objectively evaluating the amount of leakage reduction before and after leakage repair and old pipe replacement, as well as cost-saving effects.

Additionally, reducing leakage will lower raw water purification costs, and in case of water pipe accidents, it will be easier to prevent the spread of damage and respond effectively.

A Hanam City official said, “For apartment complexes and large buildings using water tanks, please fill the tanks to full capacity before the outage and close the inflow valves of the tanks. For households without water tanks, we recommend storing tap water in containers in advance.”

He added, “During the outage, reddish water may occur due to valve operation, so please refrain from using tap water even if it comes out.”

Meanwhile, the city plans to continue promotional activities such as posting banners and delivering notices to each household so that residents can familiarize themselves with pre-outage action guidelines and precautions.
