Moon Aeri, Chairperson of the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Women in Science, Technology, and Engineering (photo), has been appointed as the 'Chairperson of the Inclusive Society Expert Committee' of the National Committee for Sustainable Development.
The National Committee for Sustainable Development is an advisory body to the President that deliberates on major policies for promoting the nation's sustainable development. It consists of 55 members, including 26 private members appointed by the President and 29 ex officio members, with private members serving a two-year term.
The committee will review the National Sustainable Development Goals (K-SDGs) indicator system established in 2020, reorganize it in accordance with the purpose of the 'Framework Act on Sustainable Development,' and establish the 'National Basic Strategy for Sustainable Development.'
To conduct expert reviews, the committee has established five specialized expert committees. Chairperson Moon was appointed as the Chairperson of the Inclusive Society Expert Committee among them. This committee oversees various social issues including social safety nets, food security, education, and gender equality.
Chairperson Moon expressed her thoughts, saying, "I will do my best to ensure that Korea can make a practical contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals."
