On the 15th, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held the "12th Changwon Mayor's Natural Protection Competition" at Yongho-dong Nature Love Learning Center to widely promote the importance of nature conservation.
About 200 participants attended the competition, including Jo Myung-rae, the 2nd Deputy Mayor of Changwon Special City, city and provincial council members, and members of the Changwon Natural Protection Council.
The city selected 10 members recognized as exemplary environmental guardians throughout the year as natural protection meritorious persons and awarded them commendations. Following this, during an approximately 30-minute environmental campaign, they embodied the spirit of love for nature and environmental protection through promotional phrases using recycled materials.
Members of the Changwon Natural Protection Council, who organized this event, reflected on the noble meaning of nature conservation while seeking ways for humans and nature to coexist harmoniously, as stated in the preamble of the Nature Protection Charter: "Humans are born in nature, live with the benefits of nature, and return to nature."
Deputy Mayor Jo said, "Today’s competition is a meaningful occasion to reflect on the significance of the Nature Protection Charter and reaffirm our commitment to practice it," adding, "We will work together with you to preserve a sustainable natural environment that future generations can enjoy."
