The Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association (President Song Pil-ho) announced on the 15th that the number of participants in the "I am a Firefighter" campaign, launched to improve the treatment and perception of firefighters, has surpassed 30,000. Previously, actors Park Hae-il and Soo-ae attracted attention by donating narration for the campaign video urging participation, and especially on Firefighter Day, the 9th, more than 15,000 citizens took part.
The campaign allows anyone to participate by signing a statement demanding improvements in firefighters' treatment. The statement includes △ systematic institutional improvements for the physical and mental safety of firefighters △ expansion of rest facilities for a safe working environment △ enhancement of welfare for the families of firefighters who died in the line of duty. An event is also held monthly, where 40 participants are selected by lottery to receive a pouch upcycled from firefighting gear and a firefighter figure keyring as gifts.
Shin Hoon, Secretary General of Hope Bridge, said, "We deeply thank the 30,000 citizens who joined to improve the treatment and perception of firefighters," adding, "Hope Bridge will do its best to support firefighters who dedicate themselves to public safety so that they can work in a safer environment."
