Daejeon City announced on the 15th that it has opened the entire section of Doan-daero in both directions, connecting Gwanjeo-dong in Seo-gu to Yonggye-dong in Yuseong-gu.
The newly opened Section 2 is the final remaining segment of Doan-daero, which has a total length of 5.7 km. This section stretches 1.9 km from Wonyang Village Complex 1 in Gwanjeo-dong, Seo-gu to Yonggye-dong in Yuseong-gu, with an investment of 140 billion KRW.
Due to delays caused by compensation issues and special housing supply to nearby apartment development sites, the city partially opened a four-lane road in December last year to minimize inconvenience for citizens, and has now completed construction of the six- to ten-lane road.
With this opening, travel time between Gwanjeo-dong in Seo-gu and Yonggye-dong in Yuseong-gu is expected to be reduced, and traffic congestion at nearby intersections such as Jinjam Intersection and Gasuwon Intersection is also anticipated to ease.
An official from Daejeon City stated, "The opening of Doan-daero is expected to not only improve transportation convenience for citizens by enhancing connectivity between Seo-gu and Yuseong-gu, but also serve as a catalyst for the development of the southwestern region."
Meanwhile, the construction of Doan-daero, which began to serve as a north-south connector for the southwestern region, was promoted in three sections over a total length of 5.7 km from Gwanjeo Intersection in Seo-gu to Yuseong Intersection in Yuseong-gu.
Section 1, a 1 km segment from Gwanjeo Intersection in Seo-gu to Wonyang Village Complex 1, was opened in 2011, and Section 3, a 2.8 km segment from Yonggye-dong in Yuseong-gu to Yuseong Intersection, was opened in 2012.
