Presumed Discarded Due to Inability to Transfer to Brought Vehicle
Sighs and Shows Frustration When Lowering Wardrobe Is Difficult
There is public outrage online over a couple who took free items posted on the secondhand trading platform 'Danggeun' and then destroyed them.
On the 13th, a post titled "My mother experienced an outrageous incident after giving away free items on Danggeun" was uploaded on the online community 'Bobae Dream.' The author, Mr. A, explained that his mother recently decided to give away a wardrobe for free to someone in need before moving. Mr. A said, "My mother posted a wardrobe in good condition for free on Danggeun," adding, "Since our house is on the 4th floor without an elevator, she offered to move it down to the 1st floor on moving day morning, but the recipient said they had no time and took it yesterday."
According to the photos released by Mr. A, two drawers and the door of the wardrobe were completely removed, and the wardrobe itself was severely damaged, with the hinge area torn off as if someone had forcibly tried to rip the door off. Online community 'BobaeDream'
The couple who agreed to receive the item visited Mr. A's family home on the 12th in a Carnival van. Mr. A described the situation: "The woman looked thin and weak, and the man who came with her sighed and got angry because they couldn't carry the wardrobe down from the 4th floor," adding, "My mother saw this and helped the man carry the wardrobe down with difficulty, injuring her wrist in the process."
Mr. A said his mother was worried that the furniture might be too large to fit in the Carnival. However, the couple insisted it would fit and eventually entered the house. The next morning, the building manager asked his mother if she had dumped the furniture in the underground parking lot. Mr. A said, "My mother went down, thinking it was unlikely, and found the furniture damaged and abandoned in the parking lot."
The released photos show the wardrobe severely damaged. The hinges appear to have been forcibly torn off as if someone tried to rip the doors off. Mr. A said, "The wardrobe is in a condition that cannot be re-given on Danggeun. Upon checking later, I found out the person who came to receive it had deleted their account. Is there any way to find this couple?" He lamented, "I am so upset that I want to report them."
Netizens responded to Mr. A's story with comments such as, "I recommend not giving away items on Danggeun," "It's better to just put a sticker on and throw it away than to get stressed from giving things away," "You have to be careful because sometimes using Danggeun causes more frustration," and "I learned not to give away items on Danggeun." One netizen speculated, "They probably tried to separate the wardrobe to carry it but couldn't, so they just dumped it as is." Later, Mr. A posted a follow-up comment saying, "I will comfort my mother well," and added, "I think you are right, so I plan not to give away free items on Danggeun anymore."
