On the 12th, a review video was uploaded on the YouTube channel 'Eojjeol Su Eomneun Yunhwa' after visiting an all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant. This channel, which has about 140,000 subscribers, is known for visiting establishments with ratings around 1 star and leaving honest reviews. The restaurant visited in this video also had a rating around 1 star and was not highly rated.
After finishing his meal and preparing to leave, YouTuber Yunhwa noticed soldiers at the next table celebrating a birthday party. With a warm smile, he approached the cashier and asked the owner, "Have the soldiers paid yet? If not, may I pay for them?" The owner replied, "You are truly an amazing person. Then I will not charge you for two meals," and deducted the cost of Yunhwa and his party's meals from the bill.
Later, the YouTuber said, "Actually, I didn't pay out of my own pocket. Fortunately, I received an advertisement deal this time, and I used that payment to cover the bill." He added, "When I said I would pay for the soldiers' meals, the owner immediately offered to deduct the price of two meals. It must not have been easy for the owner, but I was very impressed and grateful."
Still, he promised to leave a fair review of the restaurant, giving it 4 stars out of 5. He wrote, "All the side dishes were delicious and the place was clean, but I hope the sushi gets even better." He also said, "There were some drawbacks, but the owner's warm heart was a much bigger advantage," and wished, "I hope the strengths outweigh the weaknesses and that the business thrives."
Netizens who saw this reacted with comments such as, "It's amazing how he paid without hesitation as soon as he saw the soldiers," "The restaurant owner is also very kind. I think I would feel good visiting such a place," and "It's so cool to pay for the soldiers' meals. Thanks to the owner who waived the cost for two people."
Recently, there have been many heartwarming stories online about citizens paying for meals or coffee for soldiers in uniform. In June, a story was shared about a woman who gave cake to an Army soldier drinking coffee at a cafe in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province, saying, "Enjoy your meal." In the same month, a story went viral about a Special Warfare Command soldier eating at a soup restaurant near the base, where an elderly man sitting opposite paid for his meal, saying he appreciated his hard work, and the restaurant owner provided drinks as a complimentary service. As citizens' goodwill continues, Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun expressed his gratitude directly on the 18th of last month, saying, "On behalf of our 500,000 soldiers, I would like to express my thanks through the media."
