Link and Domain Connection Incident in CSAT Passages
Evaluation Institute "Regrets Political Misuse of Virtual Sites"
On the 14th, an internet address presented in the Korean language section passage of the 2025 College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) was linked to a site announcing a 'regime resignation rally' schedule.
According to the CSAT subject question and answer sheets released that morning on the Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation (KICE) website, the Korean language section odd-numbered version 'Language and Media' questions 40 to 43 included a link. The passage contains a conversation where 'Pugeun,' who runs an internet broadcasting channel, invites Dr. Jeon Seon, an engineering PhD, and shares a link address.
However, when accessing the actual link, a message appears announcing a regime resignation rally scheduled for the 16th in Gwanghwamun, Seoul. The website displayed the message “Thank you for your hard work, examinees” along with the phrase “Kim Geon-hee Yoon Seok-yeol National Corruption Condemnation, Special Prosecutor Demand 3rd National Action Day, 2024.11.16.(Sat) 16:30 in front of Gwanghwamun Avenue.”
On the 14th, a post claiming to have secured the link to the site was published on the social networking service (SNS) X (formerly Twitter). Screenshot of X.
This is presumed to have occurred because KICE did not register the domain when including the internet address in the Korean passage, allowing someone else to link it to a different site.
Earlier that day at 2:15 PM, a post claiming to have secured the domain mentioned in the CSAT passage was uploaded on the social networking service X (formerly Twitter).
In response, KICE issued a statement saying, “The site in the article is a fictitious site arbitrarily created during the question-setting process and is completely unrelated to the rally announcement. We express regret over the political misuse of the CSAT questions, which are of interest to all citizens.” They added, “KICE has requested an investigation from the National Police Agency and will take strict measures based on the investigation results regarding the unauthorized political use of publicly released exam questions intended for educational purposes.”
