Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) held the '2040 Gwangjin Re-Creation Plan Proclamation Resident Report Meeting' on the 13th at the Gwangjin-gu Office auditorium.
The '2040 Re-Creation Gwangjin Plan' is a core pledge project of the 8th elected administration and serves as a blueprint to realize balanced urban development in Gwangjin-gu. It is a basic urban development concept created over the past two years through continuous deliberation and revisions with experts and residents.
The resident report meeting attracted over 300 residents, reflecting the strong desire of the citizens for urban development. The event proceeded in the order of a report on the progress of future urban development, vision proclamation, explanation of the Gwangjin Plan, and a Q&A session.
In particular, the meeting provided a detailed report to residents on the changes in Gwangjin since the 8th elected administration, including the expansion of commercial areas (about 55,000㎡) and a 90-fold increase in redevelopment possible area (2.71 million㎡), as well as the progress made so far.
The report meeting analyzed the current status and issues of the district, expanded and reorganized the urban development axis into four major axes and four major zones, and sought customized development plans for each zone.
It was explained that the urban development will be led by four major zones: ▲ Junggok Zone as a medical-specialized hub ▲ Hwayang-Gunja Zone as a youth knowledge and culture hub ▲ Guui-Gwangjang Zone as a historical, cultural, and artistic hub ▲ Jayang Zone as an advanced business complex hub.
Additionally, the plan divides development into four axes: ▲ Achasan Road as the advanced industry axis ▲ Neungdong-ro and Dongil-ro as the youth advanced innovation axis ▲ Cheonho-daero as the industrial support axis ▲ Jayang-ro and Yongmasan-ro as the creative culture axis, aiming to achieve balanced development from the Han River area to Junggok-dong.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, stated, “Since the 8th elected administration, we judged that systematic preparation is necessary for the future of Gwangjin-gu, and thus conceived the ‘2040 Gwangjin Re-Creation Plan’ reflecting changes in the urban environment and key district policies. We will continuously strive to materialize the ‘2040 Gwangjin Re-Creation Plan’ embodying the aspirations of our residents for Gwangjin-gu’s development. We hope residents will teach us more and provide diverse opinions so that Gwangjin-gu can become a place where people live happily, play joyfully, and work comfortably.”
