Baedari Ecological Park, located in Jukbaek-dong, is a large-scale urban park covering an area of 277,334㎡. Despite being situated in the heart of the city, it is home to a variety of species. Endangered species such as the golden frog, black-spotted pond frog (Mangkungi), and the tailed jay butterfly inhabit the park, and birds like the white-cheeked pintail, greater white-fronted goose, and black-faced spoonbill have also been observed.

Although the park has outstanding ecological value, Baedari Ecological Park has been legally classified and managed as a 'neighborhood park.' However, due to rapid urbanization recently, the water quality of the reservoir within the park has deteriorated, and habitats for wildlife have been threatened, raising the need for countermeasures.

The city explained that it has prepared special measures to conserve the natural ecosystem of Baedari Ecological Park and held a proclamation ceremony on this day. About 100 people, including Jeong Jang-seon, Mayor of Pyeongtaek, Kang Jeong-gu, Chairman of the City Council, provincial and city council members, and residents attended the ceremony.

To preserve the ecosystem, the city plans to restore the water circulation system and improve the water quality of the reservoir within the park by installing total phosphorus treatment facilities and non-point pollution reduction facilities. Additionally, it will expand habitats for endangered species and enhance the health of the ecological forest through management of invasive species. The city also intends to strengthen ecological education programs and secure experiential spaces.

Mayor Jeong said, "We plan to improve the park environment so that Baedari Ecological Park can be reborn as a true ecological park," adding, "We will continue to do our best to make Pyeongtaek a city where people and nature coexist."
