Professor Huh Young-woo (56, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, College of Engineering) was appointed as the 20th president of Kyungpook National University on the 14th. The term of office is four years. Kyungpook National University plans to hold an inauguration ceremony on December 11.
President Huh Young-woo stated, "A human-centered technological revolution is changing the world. At the center of this, connecting the hyper-connected society more precisely, is Kyungpook National University. KNU dreams of an innovative transformation as a research-oriented university leading regional and national industries," adding, "I will work together with professors, staff, students, alumni, and all those who love Kyungpook National University, including local residents, to build 'KNU, a world-class university that the world pays attention to.'"
President Huh Young-woo graduated with a bachelor's and master's degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Kyungpook National University and earned his Ph.D. from the University of Florida in the United States. Since 2005, he has served as a professor at Kyungpook National University. He has held positions such as Dean of the College of Engineering and Dean of the Graduate School of Industry, President of the Transparent Oxide Semiconductor Research Association, and expert committee member of the National Research Foundation of Korea. Currently, he serves as the President of the Southern Branch of the Korean Society of Surface Engineering and Director of the Advanced Materials Research Institute at Kyungpook National University.
