On the 14th, Defense and Security Education, Professional Workforce Training, and Research Cooperation Agreement at Pusan National University
Pusan National University signed a military-academic cooperation agreement with the Army 53rd Infantry Division on the afternoon of the 14th at the 1st conference room on the 5th floor of the university headquarters building.
Through this agreement, the two institutions will establish an organic military-academic cooperation system for education, talent development, and research cooperation in the fields of national defense and security, and mutually cooperate for the joint development of both institutions.
They plan to promote the establishment of new departments to cultivate education and professionals in national defense and security, conduct research on new technologies and policies in national defense and security, carry out joint research, and hold seminars in the fields of security and humanities.

The Army 53rd Infantry Division under the 2nd Operations Command (Haeundae-gu, Busan) is a regional defense division protecting Busan and Ulsan, establishing an integrated defense posture united with civilians, government, police, and fire departments to safeguard the region. Recently, in recognition of its achievements, it received the ‘Presidential Unit Citation on the 76th Armed Forces Day’ on October 1st.
Choi Jae-won, President of Pusan National University, said, “It is meaningful to sign a military-academic cooperation agreement with the regional defense force that protects the lives and property of Busan and Ulsan citizens. I believe that fostering professionals in national defense and security through mutual cooperation with the regional defense force is a way to strengthen the responsibility and public nature of a flagship national university. We will build a cooperative system for the growth of both institutions going forward.”
Kang Kwan-beom, Commander of the Army 53rd Infantry Division, responded, “I am very proud that a communication channel has been created where the military and university can coexist and form a security consensus on the common task of national defense. I hope that our 53rd Division soldiers and young students will work together to cultivate a proper security awareness and sound values.”
