LetsRun Park Bukyeong Announces Safety Management Roadmap... Disaster Response with Advanced Technologies like AI and Drones

Korea Racing Authority LetsRun Park Busan-Gyeongnam (Head Eom Young-seok) is establishing and implementing a mid- to long-term safety management plan for facilities such as grandstands to prevent natural disasters and safety accidents.

First, to prevent natural disasters such as heavy rain and various safety accidents, safety inspection items for multi-use facilities such as grandstands will be strengthened, and a budget of 12 billion KRW will be invested by 2028 to improve seismic reinforcement of facilities, installation of wind-resistant ceiling materials, replacement of aging electrical facilities, and enhancement of elevator safety.

In particular, for new complex disasters such as fires and earthquakes, prevention activities will be strengthened by utilizing various digital technologies such as drones and Internet of Things (IoT) technology.

In the event of a disaster, on-site Wi-Fi CCTV footage will be automatically shared with the headquarters disaster safety control room to reduce initial response time, and drones or unmanned robots will be used to manage facilities in hazardous areas where safety personnel have difficulty accessing, thereby protecting facilities from disaster accidents.

Additionally, by utilizing Internet of Things (IoT) technology, harmful gases in the grandstands will be continuously measured and a comfortable viewing environment will be created through air temperature and humidity control. Safety information about the facilities will also be provided to facility workers and spectators using QR codes.

A Korea Racing Authority official stated, “Recent rapid climate change is emerging as a significant risk threatening facility safety,” and added, “To respond to disasters, Korea Racing Authority will create a safe and comfortable horse racing viewing environment through organic cooperation with related organizations, scientific prevention activities, and digitalization of disaster response technologies.”
