HJ Heavy Industries' construction division announced on the 14th that it has been selected as the successful bidder for the new Cebu Port construction project commissioned by the Philippine Department of Transportation.

This project involves building a new large-scale port in the Consolacion area, located 10 km northeast of the existing Cebu Port. The construction includes a pier and operational facilities capable of simultaneously berthing two 2000 TEU-class vessels on a 250,000㎡ reclaimed land, as well as access roads. The funding comes from the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) loan, with a contract value of approximately 282 billion KRW and a construction period of 35 months.

A representative from HJ Heavy Industries stated, "This contract win was based on our accumulated expertise in port, airport, and flood control infrastructure construction in the Philippines over many years, combined with our localization strategy and technical capabilities. Through the construction of the new Cebu Port, we aim to alleviate the cargo congestion at the existing Cebu Port and contribute to the improvement of the maritime logistics system."

Meanwhile, HJ Heavy Industries' construction division entered the Philippine construction market for the first time in Korea with a road project on Mindanao Island in 1973 and has since completed over 80 projects. It holds the largest construction record among all foreign construction companies operating in the Philippines.
