"University Rental Service"... Dong-Eui University LINC3.0 Project Leading Industry-Academia Cooperation

Creating Future for Universities and Companies through Patent Development and Technology Transfer

On-site University Residency for Practitioners via 'Lab Rental' Program

Securing Talented Personnel and Conducting Research Projects → Employment Connection

"We rent out our university."

The LINC3.0 Project Group at Dong-Eui University awarded lab rental participation certificates last August to three companies: ByteSize Co., Ltd., Ajin X-Tech Co., Ltd., and Christine Company Co., Ltd.

This lab rental program is an industry-academia cooperation project where company practitioners reside at the university lab and develop technology using specialized equipment together with professors and experts. Companies enhance their technological innovation capabilities, while the university produces outcomes such as talent development and technology transfer.

What kind of results are companies participating in Dong-Eui University's lab rental program, conducted twice in collaboration with the LINC3.0 Project Group, cultivating?

"University Rental Service"... Dong-Eui University LINC3.0 Project Leading Industry-Academia Cooperation The LINC3.0 Project Group at Dong-Eui University awarded certificates to companies participating in the Lab Rental program at the Global Conference Room on the 2nd floor of the main building of Dong-Eui University last August.

ByteSize Co., Ltd., a specialized AI R&D company in footwear and fashion, has about 20 AI research and development experts stationed on the 8th floor of the Dong-Eui University library building. The staff are conducting "AI and DeepTech technology research and development in the footwear and fashion industry" together with the Image Deep Learning Lab (Professor Kwon Soon-gak, Department of Computer Software Engineering).

Ajin X-Tech Co., Ltd. opened a Device R&D Center on the 4th floor of Dong-Eui University’s Information Engineering Building. Together with the RECS Lab. (Advisor: Professor Ok Seung-ho, Department of Robotics and Automation Engineering), they have been conducting joint industry-academia research in intelligent robots and digital twin fields. Several graduates who participated in this joint research have been actively working as experts in related fields after joining Ajin X-Tech.

The Dong-Eui University AI Robotics Research Institute (Director Ok Seung-ho) signed an industry-academia cooperation agreement with Ajin X-Tech in July 2020, collaborating through nurturing outstanding talents in science and engineering, scholarship support, field training support, and establishing and operating the Device R&D Center at Dong-Eui University.

At that time, Ajin X-Tech awarded scholarships totaling 30 million KRW to two industry-academia scholarship students: Kwon Hyuk-jun, a Robotics and Automation Engineering major at Dong-Eui University, and Lee Ho-min, a master's student in Intelligent Systems Engineering. Kwon, Lee, as well as Baek Song-hoon, Kim Hyun-soo, Kim Dong-wook, and Gam Ji-woong from the Robotics and Automation Engineering Department, joined Ajin X-Tech after graduation.

Opened in July 2020, the Dong-Eui University Device R&D Center serves as an advanced base for developing AI-based intelligent innovative convergence technologies and training specialized personnel for manufacturing and robotics industries, in collaboration with Ajin X-Tech and the Busan AI Grand ICT Research Center (Director Jung Seok-chan).

Professor Ok Seung-ho of the Department of Robotics and Automation Engineering stated, "Through the Device R&D Center, by conducting research projects with Ajin X-Tech, we have achieved outcomes such as improving students' practical skills, winning various competitions, publishing excellent papers, developing patents, and technology transfer. Students’ project management experience and field-customized job competencies have been strengthened, leading to continuous employment success."

He also mentioned that the lab rental program benefits companies by securing excellent talent and achieving patent development and technology transfer through research projects.

Since its founding in 1995, Ajin X-Tech has entered the global market by domesticating controllers necessary for advanced industrial automation. It is the only company in Korea to develop and sell motor control dedicated VLSI chips (CAMC series), establishing itself as a specialized component material company in the mechatronics field. Additionally, it has domesticated controllers for various robot equipment required in semiconductor manufacturing processes, LED, LCD display processes, PCB/SMT processes, mobile, and automobile manufacturing processes.
