Herb Garden, the Best Date Course for Couples

Golf culture in Korea is gradually changing. It is shifting from a personal hobby to a family leisure activity. Golf is no longer just a pleasure for golfers but a sport to enjoy with family. Due to this change, it is not enough for a golf course to be just good. It must have good field conditions, food, and attractions. We introduce the ‘Field 3GO’ golf courses that are perfect for spending happy times with golf. This time, it is Cypress Golf & Resort located in Pyoseon, Seogwipo City, Jeju Island.

◆EnjoyGO= Cypress is an eco-friendly golf course that coexists with nature. It gained attention as the battleground for the final event of the 2024 season of the Korean Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA) Tour, the Tour Championship, which ended on the 10th. This is the first time Cypress has hosted an official tournament. It previously hosted the KPGA Pro Golf Club League The Final, an event tournament in 2023. It received high praise for providing the best course for tour players.

It was designed by Pete Dye, one of the world’s top five golf course designers. It is located in the area of Jeju with the lowest annual average of snow, rain, wind, and fog. It sits at an elevation of 250 to 300 meters, where people feel most comfortable. Numerous oreums (volcanic cones), Hallasan Mountain, and a dense cypress forest nurtured for over 40 years serve as natural windbreaks. Golf can be enjoyed all year round. Visitors can fully experience the wild beauty of Tamna hydrangeas and white-cheeked ducks.

The course covers 1,886,000 square meters (about 570,000 pyeong) with 36 holes, divided equally into membership and public courses. The local terrain with beautiful surrounding scenery was preserved. Artistic courses with sculptural beauty were added. The existing terrain is used appropriately to provide both difficulty and interest. It is a strategic golf course that stimulates the desire for challenge. The course uses Jeju’s clean bedrock water, making it a pristine course.

The total length of the 18 holes is 7,213 yards. Considering Jeju’s wind, it is a relatively long course. The ups and downs are not severe, allowing people of all ages and genders to enjoy a comfortable round. Bunkers and hazards are strategically placed throughout the course. It looks easy but has an appropriate level of difficulty. Through tension and excitement, players can feel the true charm of golf. Bentgrass, usually used only on greens, is also used on the teeing grounds and fairways.

◆EatGO= The Cypress clubhouse is a pastoral building with a Spanish style. It features red-toned roofs and volcanic rock materials. It evokes the image of a white-walled castle standing on a hill by the blue Mediterranean Sea. Golfers can enjoy true relaxation and the beauty of nature simultaneously. Local Jeju specialties are available. In the morning, dishes such as Hallasan bracken hangover soup and Seongsanpo sea urchin seaweed soup are served.

Popular lunch menus include black pork kimchi stew, Moonseom stone octopus bibimbap, Jeju bracken mackerel stew, Jeju black pork cutlet, and Pyoseon seafood mulhoe (cold raw fish soup). For dinner, dishes such as braised cutlassfish, full-course meals, and sashimi are available. Each course has a rest house where golfers can cool off and enjoy leisure. At the rest houses, you can have olive jajangmyeon, a whole fried chicken, cold noodles with young radish, kimchi-tteokbokki-snack, Jeju squid sashimi salad, mango shaved ice, and more.

Accommodation is also convenient. It is perfect for a golf trip package. The golf tel is nestled comfortably between Seongbul Oreum and the fairway in the embrace of nature. There are two types: 38-pyeong and 49-pyeong. It is a villa-style condo with one or two floors. It guarantees an independent yet high-class rest. From the rooms, you can enjoy views of the beautiful golf course and lake. The village itself is also artistic. Especially, the sunsets at the 10th and 15th holes evoke awe. There are four types: 57-pyeong, 68-pyeong, 79-pyeong, and 107-pyeong.

◆SeeGO= Pyoseon is famous for its herb garden. It is a place where the cool scent of the sea and the rich aroma of herbs linger. The 26,000-pyeong herb garden contains about 150 species of herbs and wildflowers native to Korea. Various themed parks are created, including colorful gardens, small hills, and a 2,000-pyeong experiential tangerine farm. The walking paths around the herb garden, herb shops, and cafes make it the best date course for couples. It is also a perfect space for family love. You can enjoy a relaxing cup of herbal tea.

Pyoseon Beach is also worth visiting. It has a total area of 251,000 square meters, a sandy beach area of 160,000 square meters, a beach length of 200 meters, a width of 800 meters, and an average depth of 1 meter. It is shaped like a round lake, and at low tide, the sandy beach appears in a circular shape. The sand is fine and soft, ideal for sand bathing. The surrounding areas are densely forested with pine trees. The grassy areas make it suitable for camping. To the south, there is a fishing port and rocky fishing spots where you can enjoy fresh fish and shellfish sashimi.
