This program aims to provide accurate information about symptoms to families struggling with the mental and behavioral symptoms of dementia patients and to support them in reducing emotional caregiving burdens through situational response training.
It was held four times every Wednesday from October 23 to November 13 at the Guri Dementia Safety Center, with eight family members of dementia patients participating.
One caregiver who participated in the training said, “I want to actively work as a dementia guardian to share the experiences and knowledge we have gained with other families of dementia patients who are struggling somewhere.”
Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun of Guri said, “We will do our best to make Guri a dementia-friendly city that embraces not only dementia patients but also the hearts of their families.”
Meanwhile, the Guri Dementia Safety Center has produced a total of 40 graduates through the operation of the 17th, 18th, and 19th Hea-rim Classes and the 20th Hidden Heart Finding Family Class this year.
Additionally, the center has received positive responses from dementia patient caregivers and families through healing programs and self-help group operations that help reduce psychological burdens and facilitate information exchange activities.
The support services provided by the center for dementia families are free of charge for all Guri citizens, and for more details, inquiries can be made to the Dementia Safety Center team.
