Survey Results on the Status of Marriage Services

According to the 'Marriage Service Survey' conducted by the government from May to this month, the average payment for marriage services was 24.68 million KRW. Of this, approximately 23 million KRW was paid for wedding halls and Seudeume (studio photography, dress, makeup).

According to the survey conducted on about 2,000 marriage service providers on the 14th, wedding halls had an average base price of 16.44 million KRW with an additional charge of 1.46 million KRW, and Seudeume (studio photography, dress, makeup) had an average base price of 3.46 million KRW with an additional charge of 1.74 million KRW.

The survey results showed that most consumers (82.8%) used package services provided by wedding planner companies. However, only 34.3% of package users were informed of individual prices. Consumers paid an average deposit of 827,000 KRW to wedding planner companies when contracting for products.

Complaints related to marriage services received by the 1372 Consumer Counseling Center increased annually from 1,038 cases in 2021 to 1,332 cases in 2022, and 1,505 cases last year. The main complaints included excessive additional charges (21.4%), high costs (20.5%), undisclosed service prices (10.1%), and lack of prior notice (5.3%).
