This ESG Center was jointly established by Busan Bank, Busan City, Haeundae-gu, the Korea Senior Human Resources Development Institute, and the Korea Housing Finance Corporation to address local environmental issues and create jobs for the elderly.

The ‘Our Neighborhood ESG Center’ is a resource recycling center where local residents separate and dispose of waste plastic, which is then collected by senior workers in the community, reprocessed into LED lights and safety handles, and returned to the local residents. ESG Centers are currently operating in Geumjeong-gu and Dong-gu.

The third branch, the Haeundae-gu ESG Center, has created about 100 senior jobs for resource recycling activities such as collecting and washing waste plastic, and plans to operate eco-friendly education programs targeting local daycare centers and kindergartens.

Moon Jeong-won, Head of the Eastern Sales Headquarters at Busan Bank, said, “We hope that the Our Neighborhood ESG Center will contribute to creating jobs for the elderly and help solve environmental problems,” adding, “We will continue to strive to solve community issues and practice ESG management through cooperation with institutions.”

Busan Bank is engaged in various eco-friendly social contribution activities, such as supporting fine dust suction vehicles at Busan Port to improve air quality and creating green parks within Nakdong River Ecological Park.
