Mgame announced on the 14th that it recorded consolidated sales of 19.7 billion KRW, operating profit of 4.3 billion KRW, and net profit of 3.5 billion KRW for the third quarter of this year.
Third-quarter sales increased by 12.8% compared to last year, which had recorded the highest third-quarter sales, setting a new record once again. Operating profit and net profit rose by 0.9% and 10.7%, respectively, compared to last year.
Sales increased by 8.5% compared to the previous quarter. Operating profit increased by 522.7% compared to the previous quarter, which had temporarily decreased due to an increase in recurring development expenses.
The increase in third-quarter sales and profits was attributed to the popularity of the flagship massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) ‘Yeolhyeol Gangho Online’ and ‘Knight Online’ in China, North America, and Europe.
‘Knight Online’ celebrated its 20th anniversary of service in North America and Europe in the third quarter by holding various events, resulting in a 50% increase in local sales compared to the same period last year. Additionally, last month, one server channel was added, continuing the trend of increased average concurrent users and local sales.
The fourth quarter of this year will be boosted by the performance of the self-developed mobile MMORPG ‘GwihonM,’ which is set to launch on the 21st. GwihonM features a retro feel with 2D dot graphics based on the company’s popular IP (intellectual property) ‘Gwihon,’ the uniqueness of Eastern yokai as a theme, and faithfully reproduces the oriental fantasy of martial arts. With over 2 million pre-registrations, it raises expectations for the launch by evoking nostalgia among existing fans and offering novelty to new users.
Following GwihonM, the company plans to release the mobile MMORPG ‘Jeonmin Gangho,’ based on the graphics of its popular game ‘Yeolhyeol Gangho Online,’ in the domestic market in the first quarter of next year. ‘Jeonmin Gangho’ was launched in China in August last year and reached the top spot in the local app store popularity rankings.
Kwon Eehyung, CEO of Mgame, said, "We recorded the highest third-quarter sales ever due to the solid overseas performance of our flagship games," adding, "We are about to launch ‘GwihonM,’ which is benefiting greatly from marketing effects thanks to its well-known IP." He continued, "The mobile MMORPG ‘Jeonmin Gangho,’ based on ‘Yeolhyeol Gangho Online,’ which will demonstrate the power of our IP, is also expected to launch in the first quarter of next year, so we anticipate surprising results every quarter."
