Satellite development specialist Lumir is showing strong performance. The news that it was finally selected as a participating institution in the ‘Defense Space Security Specialized Research Lab’ project led by the Agency for Defense Development appears to be influencing its stock price. The surge in interest in the aerospace sector is also attributed to Rocket Lab's stock price soaring more than 28% in the New York stock market overnight.
As of 11:13 a.m. on the 14th, Lumir is trading at 13,210 KRW, up 19.33% from the previous day.
Lumir announced that it will be responsible for developing a cyber training CubeSat in the Defense Space Security Specialized Research Lab project. Through this task, Lumir plans to secure cutting-edge defense space security technology to respond to the changing cyber battlefield environment.
The project aims to develop security software and verification techniques for hacking and defense training targeting satellite systems, with participation from an industry-academia consortium including Chungnam National University. It also aims to produce a testbed satellite for simulation training to verify these technologies. Lumir is in charge of developing the testbed satellite for simulation training, creating a CubeSat using space-dedicated components suitable for the space environment.
Last year, Lumir successfully conducted space radiation measurement and evaluated satellite process memory and IO device errors caused by radiation using commercial components with the Nuri rocket’s third secondary payload CubeSat, Lumir-T1. It achieved the highest level of technology readiness (TRL 9) in the new space sector. Based on this technological capability, Lumir is advancing the development of the cyber training CubeSat in this project.
Through this task, Lumir will rapidly develop low-cost, high-efficiency defense satellite security technology, mass-produce it, and strengthen the technological competitiveness necessary to enter the global defense satellite sector leading the new space era.
Defense space security technology is a field where leading countries strictly limit overseas transfers. Lumir plans to focus on securing foundational space and defense technologies and commercializing satellite security technology, laying the groundwork to contribute to the establishment of national and industrial cyber safety nets.
