Head nurse Kim Kyung-ah has worked at the Southeast Regional Radiation Medical Center for 14 years since its opening. She was recognized for her contributions to the stable operation of the COVID-19 dedicated ward and the integrated nursing and caregiving service ward, as well as her continuous volunteer work for marginalized neighbors in the local community and efforts to develop nursing policies, which enhanced the status of nurses.
In particular, while working in the COVID-19 dedicated ward, she was responsible for overall nursing duties related to the screening clinic and the COVID-19 patient admission ward. Since July 2021, as the head nurse of the integrated nursing and caregiving service ward, she contributed to the stable operation of the ward by conducting education for nurses and nursing assistants and providing professional and dedicated care to hospitalized patients.
Additionally, since 2022, she has been recognized for volunteer activities supporting vulnerable groups, such as delivering homemade side dishes to single mother households and purchasing and delivering food and daily necessities for elderly living alone, single-parent and grandparent-headed families, and children in childcare facilities.
Head nurse Kim Kyung-ah said, “I believe this award represents all nurses at the Southeast Regional Radiation Medical Center,” and added, “I have considered nursing my lifelong vocation for 35 years and have devoted myself wholeheartedly to patients at every moment. I will continue to strive to provide comfortable and skilled nursing services to patients and to be a role model for junior nurses.”
The Busan Nursing Award was established this year for the first time to recognize and honor nurses who have been registered members of the Busan Nurses Association for more than three years and have actively contributed in the fields of nursing education, professional activities, volunteer work, and policy activities.
