CEO Lee Geun-dong Selected as Model Disabled Entrepreneur
Achievements in Operating a Standard Workplace for the Disabled
Lee Geun-dong, CEO of KD Industry, a standard workplace for the disabled located in Yurim-myeon, Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam, was selected as an exemplary disabled entrepreneur at the '19th National Disabled Entrepreneurs Conference 2024' held on the 13th at the Glad Yeouido Hotel in Seoul and received the Minister of SMEs and Startups Award.
Geundong Lee, CEO of KD Industry in Hamyang, was selected as an exemplary entrepreneur with disabilities and received the Minister of SMEs and Startups Award.
Hosted and organized by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Disabled Enterprise Comprehensive Support Center, the National Disabled Entrepreneurs Conference has been held annually since 2006 to spread the achievements of 160,000 disabled enterprises that generate an economic effect of 75 trillion won in sales and employ 540,000 people, and to boost the pride of disabled entrepreneurs.
This year's conference was held under the slogan "Strong Power Leading the Economy! Disabled Entrepreneurs," aiming to highlight that disabled entrepreneurs are key players driving the Korean economy and to share the achievements of policies fostering disabled enterprises and future development directions.
CEO Lee stated, "With a strong entrepreneurial spirit and exemplary business management, I will strive even harder to contribute to the development of the local community and to become a company that works together with marginalized neighbors."
Meanwhile, a disabled enterprise refers to a company owned or managed by disabled persons, and in the case of medium-sized enterprises, the employment rate of disabled persons must be 30% or higher.
