"Temu·Shuin Nawa"... Amazon Launches 'Crazy Low-Price' Shop

Amazon Hall Webstore Under $20 Opens

The world's largest e-commerce company Amazon has announced a direct confrontation with Temu and Shein by launching an 'ultra-low-price webstore.'

On the 13th (local time), Amazon announced on its homepage that it will open a webstore called 'Amazon Haul,' selling various products such as clothing, household goods, and electronics at ultra-low prices under $20.

This move appears to target Temu and Shein, China's leading low-price product platforms, which have recently been expanding their presence in the United States. The Associated Press noted, "Many of the products displayed on Amazon Haul are similar in type and composition to those commonly found on Shein and Temu," adding that Shein's core customers are young women seeking affordable clothing, and Temu offers clothing, accessories, and kitchenware for bargain-hungry shoppers, reflecting a similar context.

Amazon stated that Amazon Haul can be accessed through its mobile app and offers a variety of products at "crazy low prices." Products such as $1 eyelash colorers and oven mitts, as well as $3 nail dryers, can be found.

Free shipping is provided for orders over $25, while a shipping fee of $3.99 applies to orders under $25. Amazon added that products purchased from this webstore are delivered within two weeks, depending on the region.

Dharmesh Mehta, Amazon's Vice President of Global Selling Partner Services, emphasized, "Amazon continues to explore ways to offer products at ultra-low prices in collaboration with selling partners," and added, "We will keep listening to customer feedback as we improve and expand this experience."

However, the Associated Press pointed out that the Biden administration's crackdown on low-priced Chinese imports and the 60% tariffs on China imposed by former President Donald Trump could pose variables for Amazon. While consumer prices for Temu and Shein in the U.S. may rise, benefiting Amazon, the cost of products imported by Amazon from China could also increase.

Meanwhile, on the New York Stock Exchange that day, Amazon's stock closed at $214.10, up 2.48% from the previous session.
