Customized Kia Transport Vehicles Supplied by DHL Korea... Overseas Business Expansion

Kia announced on the 14th that it will supply the purpose-built vehicle (PBV) PV5 to logistics company DHL Korea starting in 2026. PBVs are vehicles custom-made according to user needs and are expected to be used for various purposes such as transportation, relief, and storage. Kia will launch the PV5, an electric PBV applying a dedicated platform, this year.

The two companies signed a business agreement to promote an eco-friendly logistics transportation innovation project. The companies agreed on the need for an eco-friendly paradigm and IT-based logistics innovation transformation in the logistics sector, the company explained. Kia is conducting its PBV business with the goal of providing customized vehicles necessary for users’ businesses and other activities. DHL Korea has committed to electrifying all logistics vehicles by 2030.

First, starting the year after next, Kia will supply the PV5 and, by understanding the vehicle usage on site, develop customized vehicles optimized for DHL Korea’s logistics environment. Vehicle-related services such as charging and after-sales maintenance will also be developed separately.

Taking this agreement as an opportunity, Kia plans to seek collaboration opportunities with external companies in various countries including Asia and Europe. In addition to the mid-sized PV5, Kia will also utilize the large PBV PV7, which is scheduled to be released the year after next. A Kia official said, "We will collaborate as a partner supporting electrification by supplying models optimized for users’ business environments to enhance customers’ business productivity."
