Changwon Citizens Are Angry
A civic group in Changwon, Gyeongnam, held a press conference on the 14th at the Changwon Special City Hall briefing room, warning Assemblyman Heo Seong-mu and the Democratic Party of Korea not to use the Changwon National Industrial Complex 2.0 for propaganda and agitation.

At the press conference, they stated that the Changwon National Industrial Complex 2.0 is a national public project, the result of the efforts of all public officials day and night, driven by the aspirations of Mayor Hong Nam-pyo of the 8th local government and the citizens of Changwon.
The Changwon National Industrial Complex 2.0 project, which will lead the future 50 years of Changwon and the future 50 years of South Korea, is the successor to President Park Chung-hee’s Changwon National Industrial Complex. It is the hope and aspiration of the Republic of Korea and the citizens of Changwon to lead a new future for Changwon and South Korea.
The Democratic Party of Korea, swayed by a few boastful remarks from Myung Tae-gyun about the national industrial complex, is pitifully making indiscriminate allegations against innocent citizens on this occasion. In fact, there are too many people like Myung Tae-gyun near the political circles regardless of party lines. The Democratic Party says it will dispatch an investigation team to the Changwon industrial complex, but since the prosecution is already investigating, they should attend the rallies pressuring the prosecution and judiciary led by Representative Lee Jae-myung.
The civic group emphasized, “Former Changwon Mayor Heo Seong-mu should first clarify his own suspicions and urge a swift investigation,” adding, “The prosecution must promptly investigate the corruption allegations related to Saha Target Park and this case, which is likened to the Daejang-dong incident in Changwon. Also, the allegations of improper involvement in the Marine New City, the suspicions regarding the Ungdong district, and the case of spreading false information related to S-BRT must be promptly investigated by the prosecution.”
They further stated, “The Democratic Party and Assemblyman Heo Seong-mu, who see others’ faults but not their own, are truly remarkable. The Changwon National Industrial Complex 2.0 is the future of Changwon and the future of South Korea. Stop disparaging it any further.”
In particular, they said, “We sincerely hope that the Democratic Party will no longer use this for their sham rituals. Assemblyman Heo Seong-mu, as a member of the National Assembly representing Changwon, should refrain from using the National Industrial Complex 2.0 project for propaganda and agitation.”
The civic group concluded, “Although the Changwon National Industrial Complex 2.0 may have become a target of some fraudsters, it is not a subject for the propaganda and agitation that you are staging.”
