Dobong-gu Holds Unveiling Ceremony for Love Temperature Tower... Launches Focused Fundraising for a Warm Winter
This Year's Goal: 2.3 Billion KRW, Until February 14, 2025
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced on November 12 that it held the "Love Temperature Tower Unveiling Ceremony" in the lobby on the first floor of Dobong-gu Office and started a focused fundraising campaign for a warm winter.
Every year, the district conducts fundraising activities in cooperation with Seoul City and the Seoul Community Chest of Korea, and the raised funds are used to support low-income families and neighbors in welfare blind spots within the region.
Last year, the district raised a total of 2.19 billion KRW, including both cash donations and goods. Despite difficult economic conditions such as inflation, a total of 1,474 participants including local and external businesses, religious organizations, and residents joined the fundraising.
The donated funds were used for support to emergency crisis households, heating and cooling expenses for elderly waste collectors, and academy linkage projects for low-income students. Donated goods were delivered to neighbors facing difficulties in the area through community service centers and social welfare organizations.
This year’s goal is 2.3 billion KRW. The fundraising period is from November 15 to February 14 of next year. The district plans to discover more sponsors and encourage resident participation through active promotional activities.
Individuals, groups, or companies wishing to donate cash or goods can inquire at the Dobong-gu Welfare Policy Division or community service centers to receive guidance on donation methods.
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “Even a small help becomes a great strength to neighbors in need around us. We hope that you will convey warmth in the community through donation activities.”
The unveiling ceremony proceeded in the order of awarding the first donor certificate, commendation awards, and the Good Workplace plaque presentation. The certificate was awarded to Kim Yong-chu, chairman of the Dobong-gu Social Welfare Council, the first donor of the Warm Winter Fund, and commendations were given to 12 sponsors recommended by public and private institutions.
The Good Workplace plaque was presented to “Link System.” It is the second in the Dobong-gu area. Previously, Dobong-gu Office was the only one. The Good Workplace is a long-term donation program where pledged monthly donations are transferred from salaries.
