Pohang 'National Industrial Complex Operation Committee' Launched

Official Channel for Resolving Issues at Pohang National and Pohang Blue Valley National Industrial Complexes

Collaboration Among 14 Related Organizations Including Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, Pohang City, and Gyeongbuk Province

On the 13th, the Pohang Branch of the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation Gyeongbuk Regional Headquarters launched the Operation Committee for the Pohang National Industrial Complex and the Pohang Blue Valley National Industrial Complex.

Based on Article 15 (Industrial Complex Operation Committee) of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy’s notice on “Industrial Complex Management Guidelines,” the Industrial Complex Operation Committee is composed of 14 members, including related organizations such as the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, Gyeongbuk Province Industrial Location Division, Pohang City Job Economy Bureau, Pohang Metal Materials Industry Promotion Agency, Pohang Technopark, Handong University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, as well as tenant companies in the industrial complexes like POSCO and EcoPro Materials.

Going forward, the Operation Committee will serve as a collaborative channel among related organizations to address increasing issues such as aging of the two national industrial complexes, stagnation of regional strategic industries, and the imminent conclusion of ongoing projects. It will be responsible for resolving key issues, improving policies and systems, and collecting opinions and providing advice to facilitate smooth implementation of government and local government projects.

On the day of the launch ceremony, the Pohang Branch of the Industrial Complex Corporation also held an interim report meeting on the “Pohang National Industrial Complex Master Plan Establishment” project and presented the government-supported “Carbon Neutrality Leading Project Loan Support Program,” discussing the development direction of the industrial complexes and support projects for tenant companies.

The head of the Gyeongbuk Regional Headquarters of the Industrial Complex Corporation stated, “The Operation Committee will collaborate with related organizations to lead innovation such as industrial structure reorganization and infrastructure expansion for the sustainable development of the national industrial complexes, which are key hubs for production, export, and employment in the Pohang region.”
