Beef Soup Meat Worth 16,000 Won Only 4 Pieces
"25g Portion Is Correct," Then... Finally Apologized
A customer’s story has been shared about receiving only four pieces of meat in a 16,000 won Naju Gomtang ordered at a restaurant in a large outlet mall. The restaurant initially claimed it was the 'standard portion,' but later admitted it was a mistake and apologized.
Customer A posted on an online community on the 11th, recounting the incident at a large outlet mall restaurant area in Busan. A said, "After waiting in a long parking line, I arrived at the outlet and decided to eat before shopping. I went to a newly opened Korean restaurant, ○○○○○, and ordered the 16,000 won Naju Gomtang from the menu."
However, A was shocked upon receiving the ordered Naju Gomtang. There were only four pieces of meat in the soup. Moreover, the meat was thinly and lengthwise sliced, looking as if a single chunk had been cut into pieces. A asked a part-time worker, "Is this the correct amount of meat?" but was told, "Yes, we follow the standard portion."
A said, "I was very hungry, so I ate rice with those tiny four pieces of meat and the broth," adding, "When I asked about the meat portion while leaving after paying, they said it was 25g. But it didn’t even look like 25g, and even if it was, that’s too little." A expressed anger, saying, "Don’t order Gomtang there if you can avoid it. The menu board photo advertised outside the store is different. Isn’t this fraud?"
Later, A contacted the outlet customer center and received a reply stating, "The amount of meat in the Gomtang was incorrect. It was a store mistake." The outlet apologized, saying, "We are sorry and will offer free food on your next visit."
A said, "Even if I go again, my already upset feelings won’t be resolved," adding, "They don’t even offer a refund. Why would I go all the way to the outlet just to eat Gomtang?" A also pointed out, "I saw blog reviews, and they were all negative. Other menu items are also not good, so I hope they improve." A warned, "It’s been only a short time since the renovation, and many people will come to eat without knowing, but they shouldn’t run their business like this."
Netizens who read the story reacted with anger, saying things like, "Worse than rest stop food," "Is this broth with just a little meat, not Gomtang?" "Outlet food is usually like this, but this is too much," "How can they insist this is the standard portion?" "They should refund," "Who would eat that for 16,000 won?" and "They have no conscience."
