Gyeonggi Province has reportedly collected approximately 650 million KRW through the crackdown on delinquent vehicles this year.
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 13th that from March to October, it designated quarterly "Delinquent Vehicle Crackdown Days" and deployed 1,404 enforcement officers to impound license plates of 2,828 delinquent vehicles, collecting related delinquent payments totaling 653 million KRW.
Among the impounded license plates, 1,484 vehicles that paid their delinquent fees have had their plates returned, while 6 vehicles identified as "dapo" (ghost) vehicles are currently undergoing auction procedures.
No Seung-ho, Director of the Tax Justice Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "By strengthening the crackdown on delinquent vehicles, we aim to prevent temporary delinquencies from becoming long-term issues and continuously crack down on 'dapo' vehicles that cause social problems, contributing to the creation of a healthy social environment."
Meanwhile, license plates of 1,344 vehicles that were seized during the Delinquent Vehicle Crackdown Days and have not been returned can be reclaimed after the relevant city or county settles the delinquent payments. However, vehicles owned by closed corporations or those caught operating illegally will be auctioned to find new owners.
