Dongdaemun-gu (District Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) announced on the 12th that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for a smart solution cross-validation project with Seoul Digital Foundation and Thames Freeport (London Economic Zone) at the Seoul Pavilion of ‘SCEWC 2024’ held in Barcelona, Spain on the 6th.


Cross-validation is a project that experiments and verifies the technologies and solutions of two cities and institutions in different environments.


This agreement aims to solve urban problems and enhance urban sustainability by conducting cross-validation of smart city solutions from each city?Seoul’s solutions in London and London’s solutions in Seoul.


In particular, prior to this agreement, Dongdaemun-gu visited London, UK on the 3rd and 4th together with Seoul Digital Foundation to review the status of the cross-validation project. They checked how Seoul’s innovative technologies are being applied locally in London and discussed practical application methods for smart city solutions.

From the 5th to the 7th, they also participated in the world’s largest smart city international expo (SCEWC) held in Barcelona, Spain for three days, sharing advanced technologies and visions related to smart cities.


Through this MOU, the three institutions plan to further strengthen smart technology exchanges between global cities and strive to expand cooperation between companies of both countries and opportunities for innovative companies to enter overseas markets.


Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, “Through this MOU, we hope to further expand smart technology exchanges among the three institutions, contribute practically to solving each city’s problems, and improve the quality of life for our residents.”
