Joo Gwang-deok, Mayor of Namyangju, Elected President of Gyeonggi-do Mayors and Governors Association

Mayor Joo Gwang-deok: "We Will Do Our Best to Achieve Practical Local Decentralization"
Suggestions Including Activation of Wangsuk Urban High-Tech Industrial Complex at Gyeonggi Province Governor-Mayors and County Heads Policy Meeting

Joo Gwang-deok, Mayor of Namyangju City, was elected as the second half chairman of the Gyeonggi-do Mayors and Governors Association (hereinafter referred to as the ‘Association’) for the 8th term of the popular election.

The Association is an administrative council established in 1996 to promote mutual exchange and cooperation among 31 cities and counties in Gyeonggi-do, as well as efficient administration.


On the 11th, the Association held the 3rd extraordinary meeting of the 8th term at the Danwon Hall in the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office and elected Mayor Joo Gwang-deok as the chairman for the second half.


Accordingly, Mayor Joo will serve as the representative chairman of the Association for about one year and six months until June 2026.


Mayor Joo said, “I feel a heavy responsibility being elected as chairman at this important time in the second half of the 8th term of the popular election,” and added, “I will strive to communicate quickly, actively, and sincerely with the 31 mayors and governors to resolve the pending issues of each city and county.”


He continued, “I will do my best to ensure that the voice of Gyeonggi-do is reflected and that substantial local decentralization can be achieved.”


Meanwhile, prior to the extraordinary meeting, Mayor Joo attended the policy meeting between the governor and the mayors and governors of Gyeonggi-do, where he proposed regional pending projects such as △ revitalization of Wangsuk Urban High-tech Industrial Complex and strengthening industrial competitiveness in northern Gyeonggi △ prompt promotion of Local Road No. 383 (Jingeon~Onam).
