Paju-si, 'Farmers' Day Commemoration Event' Encourages Farmers' Hard Work

Gyeonggi Paju City (Mayor Kim Kyung-il) announced on the 12th that it held an event on the 11th to commemorate the '29th Farmers' Day (November 11)' to encourage the hard work of farmers throughout the year.

The event, held at the Citizen Hall Grand Theater, was organized to boost the pride and self-esteem of local farmers and to encourage their efforts.


About 350 people attended the ceremony, including Paju Mayor Kim Kyung-il, Paju City Council Chairman Park Dae-sung, city council members, Lee Hak-pil, head of the Paju branch of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, heads of agricultural cooperatives, leaders of farmers' organizations, and farmers.


The event began with a commemorative speech by Kim Yong-deok, chairman of the Paju Agricultural Organizations Council, followed by awards for five recipients of the Paju Farmers and Fishermen Awards selected in October, as well as awards for outstanding farmers who contributed to the development of agriculture in Paju and related institution officials.


Mayor Kim Kyung-il of Paju said, “I express my gratitude and respect to the farmers who have protected Paju's agriculture to provide safe food despite difficult times such as the rainy season and heat waves. We will do our best to create a virtuous cycle structure where urban and rural areas coexist for the sustainable development of Paju agriculture and to actively respond to climate change to nurture future agriculture.”
