Passed all indicators following last year, selected as the Best Education Office for 2 consecutive years
Busan-style Neulbom School chosen as an excellent case... Secured the highest nationwide incentive amount
Busan Metropolitan Office of Education has solidified its position as the top education office by being selected as the ‘Best Education Office’ in the Ministry of Education’s ‘City and Provincial Offices of Education Evaluation’ for the second consecutive year.
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Ha Yun-su) was selected as the ‘Best Education Office’ for two consecutive years in the ‘2024 City and Provincial Offices of Education Evaluation’ conducted by the Ministry of Education.
First implemented in 1996, the ‘City and Provincial Offices of Education Evaluation’ aims to enhance the quality of education by ensuring accountability of education offices, discovering and spreading best practices, and fostering healthy competition among education offices.
The Ministry of Education evaluated 17 city and provincial education offices by dividing them into ‘city regions’ and ‘provincial regions’ across five areas and 18 indicators: ▲strengthening national education and childcare responsibilities ▲digital transformation of education ▲customized education support for all ▲creating a safe and healthy educational environment ▲and improving administrative and financial efficiency of city and provincial education offices.
As a result, the Busan Office of Education was the only metropolitan city to pass all 18 indicators (ALL PASS) again this year, earning the title of ‘Best Education Office.’
Among these achievements, the ‘Busan-style Neulbom School,’ where the entire community comes together to embrace all children in Busan, was selected as an excellent case in the city region. This success is attributed to the nationwide top-level Neulbom School operation policy, which includes accepting students from grades 1 to 3 starting this March, directly developing and distributing the learning-type Neulbom curriculum, and operating dedicated Neulbom schools and 24-hour emergency care Neulbom centers.
Additionally, the city education office supported the evaluation results by achieving the highest nationwide satisfaction scores in satisfaction surveys conducted with students, parents, and teachers for each evaluation indicator.
Notably, receiving the highest score in the student satisfaction survey is significant as it indicates that Busan’s education policies have deeply taken root in the field to the extent that even students can feel their impact.
Based on this evaluation result, the Busan Office of Education will receive a special grant incentive of 825 million KRW, the highest level nationwide, in January next year.
Ha Yun-su, Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, said, “This evaluation result recognizes the excellence of education policies originating from Busan by the Ministry of Education. Going forward, our education office will continue to operate outstanding education policies with substance and leap forward as ‘the center of education in South Korea, beyond Busan.’”
Last year, the Busan Office of Education achieved a triple crown in education administration-related evaluations by ranking first in the comprehensive integrity evaluation, being selected as the best education office in the city and provincial offices of education evaluation, and ranking first in the comprehensive civil service evaluation.
