Suwon City Expands Meal Support for Care Gaps to All 44 Neighborhoods

The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province will expand the ‘Suwon Saebit Care Meal Delivery Service’ to all 44 neighborhoods starting from the 15th of this month.

Suwon City has been operating the meal delivery service since March of this year in 8 pilot neighborhoods.

In response to requests from other neighborhoods to "expand the service beneficiaries," Suwon conducted a survey on expanding the Suwon Saebit Care Meal Delivery Service to all neighborhoods through Saebit Toktok last August, and announced on the 12th that it decided to expand the service to all neighborhoods reflecting citizens’ opinions.

Accordingly, from the 22nd to the 25th of last month, Suwon City publicly recruited service providers, and after screening, selected two additional providers: ‘Banchanhada’ and ‘Hyodocook123 Suwon Branch.’ On the 6th of this month, Suwon City signed service provider agreements with the two companies.

The target beneficiaries are residents with less than 75% of the median income who have no caregiver and whose health has deteriorated due to illness or injury, as well as citizens who need support during the service waiting period (such as long-term care or welfare center meal delivery). The service can be used for up to 30 days within a maximum period of 90 days, providing regular meals and porridge meals.

A Suwon City official said, "We hope that expanding the meal delivery service to all neighborhoods will help fill care gaps," and added, "We will strive to provide high-quality services to citizens who need meal support."
