Jeonnam Province and Yeosu City have signed a written business agreement to participate in reducing single-use products with five major companies located in the Yeosu National Industrial Complex.

The companies participating in the agreement are LG Chem, YNCC, Lotte Chemical, Hanwha Solutions, and GS Caltex.

The agreement was attended by Jeong Chang-gyun, Head of the Eastern Regional Headquarters of Jeonnam Province; Jeong Ki-myeong, Mayor of Yeosu; Lee Hyun-gyu, LG Chem Resident Executive; Jo Byung-man, YNCC Manufacturing Executive Director (Executive Vice President); Ahn In-su, Hanwha Solutions Executive Director; Jo Jeong-hoon, Lotte Chemical Office Support Plant Manager; and Oh Young-cheol, GS Caltex Equipment Plant Manager.

The agreement includes joint efforts by major companies representing the Yeosu Industrial Complex and local governments to reduce the use of single-use products for the transition to a circular economy society and the spread of environmentally friendly consumption culture.

Accordingly, companies will prepare and implement specific measures to reduce the use of single-use products within their workplaces, and Jeonnam Province and Yeosu City will provide the necessary administrative support for companies to reduce single-use product usage.

Head Jeong Chang-gyun said, "I hope this agreement becomes a model case of public-private collaboration in resource circulation and serves as an opportunity to reduce the use of single-use products," adding, "We will strive to achieve a sustainable circular economy society."

Meanwhile, Jeonnam Province has designated this year as the inaugural year for creating festivals without single-use products, investing 800 million won of provincial funds to supply 2.36 million reusable containers to 22 representative city and county festivals as of the end of October. In 2025, the province plans to expand festivals without single-use products to establish a culture of reusing reusable containers.
