Jumped from 730th to 506th in World Rankings Last Week
Schauffele, Schofli, McIlroy Maintain 'Top 3'
Im Sungjae 22nd, An Byeonghun 25th, Kim Juhyung 26th
‘Tour Championship winner’ Lee Daehan soared to 506th in the world rankings
In the men's golf weekly world rankings announced on the 10th (local time), he earned 0.26 points and jumped 224 places from 730th last week. He accumulated points by winning the Tour Championship (total prize money 1.1 billion KRW), the final event of this year's Korean Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA) Tour, which concluded the previous day at the Southeast Course of Cypress Golf & Resort in Seogwipo, Jeju Island (par 71, 7,078 yards). After debuting on the KPGA Tour in 2010, he achieved his first career victory following a long period of obscurity. The winner's prize money was 220 million KRW.
Lee Daehan failed to maintain his tour card and spent seven years moving between tours such as the China Tour. Since 2019, he has consistently played on the KPGA Tour for six seasons but never entered the top 50 in the money rankings. Right after his victory, he said, "I hope I can be a beacon of hope for players who are working hard but have yet to see the light. Since I showed that a player like me can win, I hope others will find courage by watching me." He added, "I have secured a two-year tour card, so I will spend this winter warmly. I want to play on the tour for as long as possible. I also want to win more. I hope to reach five wins, ten wins."
There were no changes in the top ranks. Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele (both USA), Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland), Collin Morikawa (USA), and Ludvig Aberg (Sweden) maintained the ‘Top 5’. South Korea’s Im Sungjae ranked 22nd, An Byeonghun 25th, Kim Juhyung 26th, and Kim Siwoo 56th. ‘Tour Championship runner-up’ Jang Yubin jumped four places to 130th.
