At the Health and Welfare Committee Audit: "6.8 Billion KRW in Design Change Budget Just This Year"
On the 11th, Lee Hanyeong, a member of the Daejeon City Council (People Power Party, Seo-gu 6), criticized concerns over budget waste caused by frequent design changes during the Welfare and Environment Committee's administrative audit.
Lee pointed out the budget issues related to river management and major project design changes, stating, "From 2022 to 2024, there were 60 design changes, resulting in approximately 20 billion KRW in additional budget." He further remarked, "Although the reasons for design changes are listed as site conditions or fluctuations in material prices, these are difficult for citizens or the council to fully understand."
He continued, "In 2024 alone, the budget for design changes amounts to 6.8 billion KRW," and emphasized, "Design changes made without sufficient preliminary review can lead to budget waste for Daejeon City."
Regarding the sewage pipeline BTL project, Lee stated, "The budget related to the BTL project reaches about 20 billion KRW annually, but on-site inspections in the project area are insufficient," and called for on-site visits and thorough management and supervision.
