First 2,025 Applicants Accepted... Photogenic Award and Body Painting Award to Be Presented
Seon Yang Soju Co., Ltd. announced that the "2025 Seon Yang Bare Body Marathon" will be held on January 1 at the Mulbit Square (Hanbit Tower) in Daejeon Expo Science Park.
The "Seon Yang Bare Body Marathon" is a festival that emphasizes the number "1" as a symbol of new beginnings, starting every year at 11:11:11 AM on January 1, where participants run 7 kilometers along the Gapcheon River in Daejeon wearing only their bare bodies.
Since its inaugural event in 2016, except for two years during the pandemic, it has been held annually and will mark its 8th edition in 2025. The concept of running shirtless has spread nationwide, establishing itself as a representative New Year’s festival in Korea, attracting participants from all over the country.
With each passing year, the proportion of participants in their 20s and 30s has increased to over half of the total, drawing attention as a festival that helps Daejeon shed its reputation as a "boring city" and transform into a vibrant, fun city.
The growing variety of events and the unique body painting and distinctive costumes of the young and creative participants are considered highlights of the "Seon Yang Bare Body Marathon." Seon Yang Soju Co., Ltd. plans to present on-site awards such as the "Photogenic Award" (in three categories: family/friends, couples) and the "Body Painting Award" for participants looking to make resolutions for the new year or create special memories. There will also be various special awards, such as the Long-Distance Participation Award and the Group Participation Award.
In addition, a wide range of interactive events will be held, including "Funfun Classic" by Seon Yang and Malgeullin Opera, Seon Yang Photo Studio, a photo wall, participation certification shots, a wish wall, and a tea booth.
Currently, registration for the "2025 Seon Yang Bare Body Marathon" is open through the official website, with participation limited to the first 2,025 applicants. The participation fee is 20,000 KRW, but it is free for those under 20 years old (born in 2006 or later, as of 2025).
Jo Woongrae, Chairman of Seon Yang Soju Co., Ltd., stated, "January 1, 2025, marks the 10th anniversary of the marathon," and added, "We will do our best to prepare the event so that it becomes a special and memorable experience for everyone who participates."
