The construction of Mikopower's new plant is a core project of the hydrogen industry promoted by Pyeongtaek City. To this end, the city and Mikopower signed an investment agreement worth 100 billion KRW in 2022 to establish a next-generation hydrogen fuel cell mass production line.

The new plant being built by Mikopower will cover an area of 5,200 pyeong (approximately 17,200 square meters), and after completion, it will produce 100MW of hydrogen fuel cell stacks and systems. The city expects Mikopower's hydrogen fuel cells to play a role as a distributed energy source for regional energy self-sufficiency.

About 300 people attended the groundbreaking ceremony, including Jeong Jang-seon, mayor of Pyeongtaek, Kang Jeong-gu, chairman of the Pyeongtaek City Council, Jeon Seon-gyu, chairman of the Miko Group, and Ha Tae-hyung, CEO of Mikopower. Mayor Jeong said, "Mikopower's hydrogen fuel cell plant will be an important foundation for Pyeongtaek to leap forward as a city leading the hydrogen economy," adding, "The city will strive to ensure that the ongoing hydrogen-related projects proceed without any setbacks."
