Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, conducted an "Autumn Rural Labor Assistance" program to support farmers facing difficulties such as labor shortages and rising labor costs during the peak harvest season.
From late October to mid-November, over 160 personnel, including officials from various departments and township offices, were deployed to assist farms in particular need of labor, such as those run by elderly farmers, women-headed households, and patients hospitalized for extended periods.
In addition, to address the labor shortage caused by the decline in the young population and the resulting increase in labor costs, participation from local institutions and self-governing organizations is being actively encouraged alongside government officials.
County Governor Yoon Kyung-hee stated, “Farmers are the heart of Cheongsong, and we will unite public and private sectors to help overcome their difficulties and assist with the autumn harvest. We will continue to provide ongoing support to alleviate the hardships faced by agricultural workers.”
