Kiwoom Securities Conducts Volunteer Activity to Create Insect Habitat Employees of Kiwoom Securities and participants of the youth plogging group 'PeulPeulPeul' carried out a biotope creation volunteer activity at Yeouido Saetgang Ecological Park in Seoul on the 8th. Kiwoom Securities

The term biotope combines the Greek words ‘bios,’ meaning life, and ‘topos,’ meaning place. It is an artificial structure made using tree trunks or branches, serving as a stable habitat for small plants, animals, and insects.

On that day, Kiwoom Securities employees created a large biotope over 8 meters tall at Yeoui Saetgang Ecological Park. They gathered tree stumps and small branches around the Saetgang stream and tightly wove them together to build a sturdy structure that would not collapse even if the river flooded.

This volunteer activity was part of the ‘Kiwoom and Clear’ campaign conducted last summer. With the purpose of carrying out eco-friendly activities such as carbon neutrality in daily life, all Kiwoom Securities employees achieved 100 million steps walked during July, donated 20 million KRW to the social cooperative ‘Hangang,’ and pledged employee volunteer work. Accordingly, Kiwoom Securities employees volunteered to create biotopes for the Saetgang ecosystem.

In particular, this volunteer activity was made more meaningful by the participation of ‘FPP,’ a youth group that conducts plogging volunteer work. Kiwoom Securities employees and FPP youth walked while plogging from Kiwoom Securities’ headquarters, TP Tower, to the biotope installation site located at Saetgang.
