During road use, excessive and unnecessary signs such as pavement markings, traffic safety signs, and guide signs overlap, causing confusion in drivers' visibility and rather causing a counterproductive effect on safety.
Accordingly, the city conducted a full survey of poles with various signs in the Gosan district in cooperation with the Uijeongbu Police Station, and organized a total of 264 poles (67 protruding poles and 197 fixed poles).
Various signs installed separately on fixed and protruding poles were integrated with street facilities (streetlights, traffic signals, closed-circuit television (CCTV), etc.), and unnecessary poles were removed.
Specifically, out of 264 poles installed along the roadside, 239 were removed, and among 408 signs, 132 were removed and 251 were integrated to secure drivers' visibility, thereby creating a safe road environment.
Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, "We plan to establish an annual maintenance plan to integrate and organize various signs and street facilities," adding, "We will continue to maintain unnecessary and excessive facilities to make Uijeongbu City a place where people want to walk safely."
