- Wirye-Gwacheon Line passes private investment feasibility, construction to start in 2026
- ‘Wirye Symphonia,’ the only senior residence in Wirye New Town with improved public transportation network, draws attention
The ‘Wirye-Gwacheon Metropolitan Railroad Private Investment Project’ (hereinafter referred to as the Wirye-Gwacheon Line), recognized as a major transportation infrastructure in the southeastern metropolitan area, has completed the private investment feasibility study and is scheduled to begin construction in 2026. This has increased interest not only in the real estate market of Wirye New Town but also in ‘Wirye Symphonia,’ the only senior residence within Wirye New Town.
The Wirye-Gwacheon Line, also known as the Gwacheon-Wirye Line, is a metropolitan railroad connecting Government Gwacheon Office Station and Songpa-gu, Seoul. It was included in the 3rd and 4th National Railroad Network Construction Plans and gained momentum when Daewoo Engineering & Construction proposed its construction at the end of 2021. The initially proposed route by Daewoo E&C consisted of a main line connecting Government Gwacheon Office Station and Bokjeong Station, and a branch line linking Yangjae Citizen’s Forest and Apgujeong.
This route completed the private investment feasibility study on the 7th and concluded that it is ‘feasible,’ paving the way for full-scale construction to begin in 2026.
As a result, the area around Wirye New Town is expected to transform into a transportation hub in the southeastern region, connecting various public transportation networks such as the Wirye-Gwacheon Line, Wirye Sinsa Line, and trams within Wirye New Town.
Industry experts say, “The expansion and improvement of public transportation networks are the most significant positive factors affecting the local real estate market, and a favorable trend is expected in the real estate market around Wirye New Town. In particular, as transportation networks improve significantly for actual users, it is anticipated to have a strong impact not only on the apartment market but also on various real estate products.”
Amid the expected positive impact on the real estate market in the Wirye New Town area due to transportation network improvements, interest is also growing in ‘Wirye Symphonia,’ the first and only senior residence in Songpa-gu and within Wirye New Town.
‘Wirye Symphonia,’ supplied by HanmiGlobal D&I, is located in Jangji-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul. It offers abundant living infrastructure and convenient transportation within Wirye New Town, distinguishing itself from other silver towns located on the outskirts of the city.
In fact, ‘Wirye Symphonia’ boasts excellent public transportation, with Jangji Station on Line 8, Bokjeong Station, and Namwirye Station all within a 10-minute drive. A new tram line planned within Wirye New Town will further enhance the residential convenience of ‘Wirye Symphonia.’
The Wirye Tram Line is scheduled to open in September 2025 and consists of a main line running between Macheon Station on Seoul Subway Line 5 and Bokjeong Station on Line 8, and a branch line connecting Changgokcheon to Namwirye Station on Line 8. Once the Wirye Tram Line opens, not only will intra-Wirye New Town travel become easier, but metropolitan travel using public transportation will also be significantly more convenient.
Residents can also enjoy abundant and diverse living infrastructure nearby, such as the central commercial district of Wirye New Town and Starfield City Wirye. Additionally, a pleasant residential environment is provided by Jangji Stream, Wirye Lake Park, and Wirye Neighborhood Park. Namhansanseong Provincial Park is also nearby, along with various sports, cultural, and leisure facilities including the Millitopia Golf Practice Range, offering an ideal location for active seniors who enjoy diverse leisure and cultural activities.
The greatest advantage of ‘Wirye Symphonia’ is its accessibility to advanced hospitals. Large hospitals in the Gangnam area, such as Asan Medical Center and Samsung Medical Center, are located just minutes away by car.
