Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) announced on the 11th that the "Unification Kimchi Making Festival" event, hosted by the Uijeongbu City Chapter of the Korea Freedom Federation (President Na Jong-mook), was successfully held on the 9th at the outdoor stage of the Uijeongbu Federation of Arts and Culture.

With the participation of about 80 local residents originally from North Korea and about 50 volunteers, this event was more than just a kimchi-making gathering; it was an opportunity for community members to understand each other's cultures and practice sharing.
Through this, North Korean defectors were provided with a chance to naturally integrate into the local community.
President Na Jong-mook said, "This event became a warm sharing space for harmony and coexistence within the community," and expressed gratitude to the North Korean defectors and volunteers who participated in the event.
Mayor Kim Dong-geun stated, "It was a precious opportunity for North Korean defectors and local residents to come together and share bonds," adding, "We will continue to provide various support and attention so that North Korean defectors can settle stably in the community."
