Gangnam-gu Launches Fundraising Campaign from the 15th... Aiming for 3.8 Billion Won This Winter

Gangnam-gu Launches Fundraising Campaign from the 15th... Aiming for 3.8 Billion Won This Winter Unveiling ceremony of the Love Temperature Tower. Provided by Gangnam-gu.

Gangnam-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) will launch the fundraising campaign "2025 Hope Ondol Warm Winter" from the unveiling ceremony of the "Love Thermometer" on the 15th until February 14 next year.

This fundraising project, jointly promoted by Gangnam-gu and the Seoul Community Chest of Korea, delivers donations and goods contributed by local residents, organizations, and companies to underprivileged groups in the area, including low-income families, people with disabilities, and elderly living alone. Last year, the amount raised exceeded the target, with a total of 4.294 billion KRW (1.386 billion KRW in cash donations and 2.908 billion KRW in goods), significantly contributing to spreading a culture of warm sharing.

This year’s target amount is 3.8 billion KRW, which is 100 million KRW higher than last year. Despite difficult conditions due to rising prices and economic slowdown, the district plans to focus on discovering sponsors through public-private cooperation. There are two ways to participate in donations: cash and goods. For cash donations, donors can transfer funds to the Community Chest account assigned to each autonomous district and then submit a donation certificate to the Welfare Policy Division or the local community service center.

The district will strengthen cooperation with related organizations such as the Gangnam Food Support Center and Gangnam Welfare Foundation to ensure that donated goods are promptly delivered to low-income households below 120% of the median income and welfare facilities.

Meanwhile, the unveiling ceremony held at 3:30 PM on the 15th in the lobby of the main building of the district office will feature District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong and Parnas Hotel as the first cash and in-kind donors, respectively. On this day, Parnas Hotel plans to donate 2,000 kg of kimchi for kimjang and winter supplies. Additionally, Oh Wang-geun, chairman of the Segok Sharing Scholarship Foundation, will be appointed as the ambassador for this year’s Warm Winter campaign.

Mayor Jo Seong-myeong stated, “The warmth we share becomes a greater strength especially in difficult times,” adding, “We will do our best to strengthen public-private partnerships to share the joy of giving with more people and ensure that all residents can have a warm winter.”
